The Blues Claus and you! (Mini) Song Cake
To celebrate the release of Blue’s single Sing-Along Spectacular, I’ve teamed up with Nickelodeon to share a recipe inspired by Blue and her love of music!
Follow my tutorial to decorate a mini cake (you choose the flavor!) with a delicious buttercream frosting and a fun note drawing. Top it off with a free printout from Blue’s Clues and You! Cake topper inspired by Blue’s adorable puppy!
Ingredients and materials
- 3 6-inch round cakes
- 4 bars of salted butter, at room temperature
- 2 pounds of powdered sugar (1 bag)
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 3 to 5 tablespoons milk
- Food coloring – blue, pink, black
- A multitude of blue splashes
- Angle Trowel
- 3 sachets for icing
- The stress points are a medium star point and a small round point.
- Serrated knife
- Printed pie filling – DOWNLOAD
- One sheet of black cellulose paper
- 2 sticks of candy or ice cream
Print the top of the cake and cut it out. Glue the image to a piece of black cardboard and cut off the edges. Attach two sugar straws with tape to the center of the back of the paper net.
Prepare and bake three 6-inch round cakes – the choice of flavor is yours! Let the cakes cool and then use a serrated knife to flatten the top of each cake if necessary.
For the buttercream, beat the butter, milk and vanilla in a bowl until smooth. Add the caster sugar little by little until it is all incorporated.
The color 3/4 of the enamel is blue. For the rest of the glaze, the color is half pink, half gray.
Place the first cake on the cake bottom. Pour a generous amount of blue icing over the top of the cake and use an angled spatula to smooth the icing over the top of the cake. Place the second cake on top and cover the top with icing. Repeat this process for the third cake. Apply the blue icing along the edge of the cake and smooth it out with a spatula.
Put the rest of the blue icing in a star-shaped bag. Fill the pink and gray frosting into two separate piping bags, each with a small round tip.
Add pink and gray nuts to the sides of the cake.
Stick the top of the cake in.
Add a decorative border of blue icing around the top and bottom of the cake.
Add an assortment of blue glitter to the top and bottom of the cake.
