With people like Kevin Hart and Ice Cube, the movie industry has a number of African American celebrities who have made it big. However, there are also a number of African American celebrities who are not quite as well known. Curtiss Jackson is one of the well-known African American celebrities who has been in the industry for quite a while. He has been in a number of movies since he started his career in the late 1990s, and he is now at the height of his career.
At the end of Falcon and the Winter Soldier, another mystery is revealed, though many fan theories have already solved it: the identity of the dark Force broker. Apparently Rogue was shaken up by Sharon Carter, the super spy played by Emily VanCamp, because she’s now a full-fledged villain and in One World, One Nation she appears as a power broker, the only real villain in the entire story. As Carter prepares to expand his trade in military secrets and experimental weapons by reclaiming his position in the CIA, we are introduced to the original power broker from the comics, one Curtiss Jackson, who had many interactions with the main characters in the series.
Curtiss Jackson, born in Charlotte, North Carolina, had a natural talent for business and an almost total lack of morals, which put him in the crosshairs of the Corporation, a criminal gang run and managed as a business enterprise. The company traded in weapons, information and technology, and did business with crime lords such as Fu Manchu and Kingpin, and organizations such as HYDRA and AIM : Jackson thought such deals were fine, as long as the customer paid, and he was ruthless enough to rise within the company to head the West Coast division. In one of his biggest missions, Jackson teamed up with U.S. Senator Eugene Stivak, corrupt S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Vamp, and supervillain Moonstone to get his hands on the Machinist, arm it, and put it into mass production, but some superheroes got in the way. Captain America, Falcon, Man-Marvel and the Hulk freed the Machinist and destroyed his base while unmasking Stevek and Vamp. In search of new technology and resources, Jackson attempts to kidnap Trish Starr, the niece of brilliant mad scientist Elihas Starr, but the Hulk and Machine Man foil his plans once again. All those failures taught Jackson one thing: The superpowers were the real source that made all high technology and weapons obsolete. As a resource, forces can be bought and sold, and that’s the direction his company is going: Jackson called himself a power broker and created the Power Broker Corporation. He has hired the mad scientist Carl Malus to perform his usual experiments on superhumans and normal people, with the goal of reproducing special gifts and selling them to the highest bidder.
This new profession has proven extremely lucrative, with people literally lining up at his labs to obtain superpowers. And although the process is extremely risky, the power broker was careful to hide the many clients who died or were horribly disfigured during the Malus trial. The loyalty program was also quite unique, as Malus developed an addictive drug that he gave to all his patients: Power’s broker informed clients that they needed these chemicals from time to time to stabilize, so forced everyone to keep paying him for the drug. When the Unlimited Class Wrestling Federation opened, which only allowed superhumans, it became an unexpected but unlimited source of income for the Power Broker, as many needy people paid him to acquire special skills in order to participate in the tournament. One of them was Sharon Ventura, who, after being mistreated during the trial, ran away before being administered an addictive drug: Fearing she will betray her hand, the power broker sends the Grapplers after her, a team of female wrestlers he employs. Things didn’t go as planned: Ventura received help from Captain America, The Thing, Shroud and Destroyer Man, but his activities were not affected. Unfortunately, that couldn’t be said when the scourge of the underworld began attacking the Power Broker Corporation: The bloodthirsty vigilante had already killed many super-villains and the Power Broker didn’t want to be his next victim. With heroes like Captain America, Agent USA, and Destroyer Man constantly on his heels, and with the addition of Beach, Jackson had only one sure way to protect himself: go through the same process that so many before him had gone through, with all the risks that entailed.
Curtiss Jackson is a greedy man, but one who thinks greed is a virtue and lives it. As a power broker, he is an extremely smart and savvy businessman and tactician; after the Malus trial, he has become a giant with incredible strength, so strong that he is bulletproof… but his muscles are so hypertrophied that he cannot move and can only walk in a suspended harness. Bound to an exoskeleton and victim of his own medicine, the Force Broker nevertheless continues as before, knowing that in a world of super soldiers, gods and mutants, every normal human wants to be super…..
